The Completed Project

From Mike Foster, Tuesday, November 4, 2014

Dear Lynn and Judy,
I just wanted to take a moment and send you a few pictures of the completed parking lot roof. And again, I want to express my deep appreciation for you and the great Westover team for helping us work on this much needed project.

You are in my prayers during the Fall Global Conference.

By His grace,
 Mike Foster

Mike S. Gets Through...

We were so happy to get a few emails from Mike today...

GM Team,
We've had intermittent internet access...hope you can post these items to the blog for us.

We are all simply amazed at the work the missionaries are doing here to spread the Gospel to the Philipino young adults.

Our first few days have been filled with hard work to construct the new facility that was damaged by the typhoon. By God’s grace we have learned new trades that no member has ever accomplished before, like working with steel that includes welding, metal cutting and painting with an extra strength primer that keeps the rust out.

This photo shows the team's work site in the background, and some of the destruction that remains from the typhoon.

Setting the welded beam in place.

Meanwhile on another job site, Pastor Lynn helps with a roofing project.

We had a one hour respite, so our liaison, Roley, took us on a tour of the surrounding villages and jungle areas. This time together cumulated in a faith walk across an abandoned railroad bridge some 400 yards above the river floor.

Scott and Roley showing their strength after bending 200 pieces of concrete rebar for the retaining wall that will be built.

The faith walk begins...

The fearless team after the faith walk... Mike said, "Good thing we had God on our side!"

And some time for fellowship and fun...

Kevin turned 37 on our trip. He had Happy Birthday sung to him on ten separate occasions by the WOL Staff and Campers alike!

Happy Belated Birthday Kevin!

WOW!  What a GREAT looking Birthday Cake!

And just for chuckles...

One wonders if the guys are just laughing at how an OSHA Rep would be losing his or her mind over the way they are preparing to transport this rebar?!  ;-)

Obviously there are a vast number of ways on a construction site that could cause Bob to get a hole in his shirt...but whatever the way this happened, it's got them all chuckling!  The hole doesn't look singed around the edges, so MAYBE we can rule out the possibility that Bob got too close to the welding...but just maybe!

Again, thank you for your prayers!

Wasting No Time...

Our Missionary, Mike Foster, (third from the right) walks the team around the Word of Life Camp and Bible Institute. They will see the damage done and projects they will start on.

Dear Family & Friends,
Our quiet time together as a team this morning was sweet fellowship.
We then worked hard cutting metal angle iron and prepping
for the work that will follow in the days ahead.
We are trying to stay awake as long as possible today
so we can get on schedule with this time zone.
We have been warmly welcomed by all and are excited to be here.
Thanks for keeping us in your prayers,
Westover Disaster Relief Team

A hard working crew gets started.

Sparks are a flying!  Please keep a praying!

They've Arrived!

The Team looks pretty good after 30+/- hours of traveling!  WOL team member, Joel, was there to pick them up.

Praise You LORD!

Dear family and friends.
We arrived safely in Manila where we were met by Mike Foster
and Joel, who is a single missionary serving at WOL camp.

The two hour drive got us in a little after midnight.

Thursday, October 9 - Prayers at PTI

The Five Guys and their Prayer Support Team!
Starting the trip off right, covered in prayer.

An update from Judy:

"...the guys arrived at 11 PM...then they had to go through customs and drive three hours out to the Word of Life Camp. They will be five tired puppies. They are probably JUST arriving about now. (2:10pm on Friday) :) so they are at the 30 hours of travel mark. Hope that they got to sleep.

2014 - Philippines Disaster Relief Team

Prayer Time at PTI: Thursday, October 9, 8:45am

(From L to R) Kevin Heywood, Mike Spohn, Bob Wosinski, Scott Bowman and Pastor Lynn Everswick.

Back in July Pastor Lynn Everswick received an email from our missionary, Mike Foster, stating, “Well Brother, I guess the Lord gave me the answer about you bringing a team....We look like a war zone here, but praise God that out of the 130 people at camp none were hurt.”
We covet your prayers for the five member Philippines Disaster Relief Team as they head out Thursday, October 9 for 9 days of repair and restoration of numerous buildings at the Word of Life Bible Institute and Camp. Please pray as the Spirit leads you, and for safety—especially on the job sites, good health and strength, and what every good construction crew always needs, good weather!

The team will return on Saturday, October 18.
