Mike S. Gets Through...

We were so happy to get a few emails from Mike today...

GM Team,
We've had intermittent internet access...hope you can post these items to the blog for us.

We are all simply amazed at the work the missionaries are doing here to spread the Gospel to the Philipino young adults.

Our first few days have been filled with hard work to construct the new facility that was damaged by the typhoon. By God’s grace we have learned new trades that no member has ever accomplished before, like working with steel that includes welding, metal cutting and painting with an extra strength primer that keeps the rust out.

This photo shows the team's work site in the background, and some of the destruction that remains from the typhoon.

Setting the welded beam in place.

Meanwhile on another job site, Pastor Lynn helps with a roofing project.

We had a one hour respite, so our liaison, Roley, took us on a tour of the surrounding villages and jungle areas. This time together cumulated in a faith walk across an abandoned railroad bridge some 400 yards above the river floor.

Scott and Roley showing their strength after bending 200 pieces of concrete rebar for the retaining wall that will be built.

The faith walk begins...

The fearless team after the faith walk... Mike said, "Good thing we had God on our side!"

And some time for fellowship and fun...

Kevin turned 37 on our trip. He had Happy Birthday sung to him on ten separate occasions by the WOL Staff and Campers alike!

Happy Belated Birthday Kevin!

WOW!  What a GREAT looking Birthday Cake!

And just for chuckles...

One wonders if the guys are just laughing at how an OSHA Rep would be losing his or her mind over the way they are preparing to transport this rebar?!  ;-)

Obviously there are a vast number of ways on a construction site that could cause Bob to get a hole in his shirt...but whatever the way this happened, it's got them all chuckling!  The hole doesn't look singed around the edges, so MAYBE we can rule out the possibility that Bob got too close to the welding...but just maybe!

Again, thank you for your prayers!
